A transient new coherent condition of matter: the signal for new physics in hadronic diffractive scattering

Abstract: We demonstrate the existence of an anomalous structure in the data on the diffractive elastic scattering of hadrons at high energies and small momentum transfer. We analyze five sets of experimental data on p(p)− p scattering from five different experiments with colliding beams, ranging from the first-and second-generation experiments at √ s = 53 GeV to the most recent experiments at 546 GeV and at 1800 GeV. All of the data sets exhibit a localized anomalous structure in momentum transfer. We represent the ano… Show more

“…Turning to the models exploiting collective behavior of radiation sources (let us call them collective models for brevity), it is interesting to note that in Barshay's model of a transient new coherent condition of matter [65][66][67][68], proposed for the explanation of the anomalous soft photon production in hadronic beam experiments [9][10][11], the soft pho-ton radiation enhancement appears also due to an explicitly non-linear feature of the model, but the radiation itself is coherent and the enhancement occurs due to a constructive interference of radiation sources [65].…”

“…scattering angle θ), results in a localized structure in the differential cross section dσ el dt around a fairly definite value of √ −t. Such a localized structure exists [1] in the data from collider and fixed-target experiments up to the present highest center-of-mass energy √ s = 1800 GeV. There must also be direct signals from the transient coherent system in inelastic processes.…”

“…There exist certain definite anomalous effects in current high-energy experiments involving collisions of hadrons [1,2,3,4,5]. These unusual effects can be connected through the transient existence of a new coherent condition of matter [1].…”
