“…Yet another article ( Ivanov, 2020b ) uses information control and communication theory to explain the relations between resilience and viability. In order to create value for customers, Mollenkopf et al (2020) used a service-dominant logic paradigm to prepare a supply chain response plan to the current food crisis. The behavioral decision theory is used to understand how organizations behave and make decisions during ambiguous events such as the COVID-19 pandemic ( Gunessee and Subramanian, 2020 ).…”

“…In the area of demand management, researchers mention demand fluctuation and firms’ ability to manage such changes in demand. COVID-19 has affected the pattern of consumers’ purchasing behavior for both essential and non-essential products ( Hakovirta and Denuwara, 2020 , Mollenkopf et al, 2020 ). The demand for essential products (e.g., food, medicine and ventilators) increased sharply ( Paul and Chowdhury, 2020a , van Hoek, 2020 ), leading to temporary product shortages ( Deaton and Deaton, 2020 , van Barneveld et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Well-being is central to studies in transformative service research (TSR) ( Barnes et al, 2020;Mollenkopf et al, 2020), as TSR is defined as "the integration of consumer and service research that centers on creating uplifting changes and improvements in the well-being of consumer entities: individuals (consumers and employees), communities and the ecosystem" (Anderson et al, 2011, p. 3). The COVID-19 pandemic has put increasing pressure on fundamental forms of well-being that result from social distancing (Henkel et al, 2020).…”

“…The security to guarantee employment for workers must be considered as included in CSR and some companies are also moving towards the creation of intertwined supply networks (ISN), with great elasticity that allows them to undergo major changes without serious damage (Ivanov and Dolgui 2020 ). The conversion change and acceleration of entire production plants, which have changed shape and format to adapt to the fight against the virus, are unequivocal signs of an awakening of consciences in the field of social responsibility (Mollenkopf et al 2020 ); reaching the awareness of a restructuring of the design of the product chain to predict the possible impending risks and to analyze how to behave in cases where these situations may occur again, analyzing pandemic supply risk mitigation measures and potential recovery paths (Ivanov and Das 2020 ). There is also the possibility of a creative push on the part of companies for the centralization of production processes thanks to low cost technologies to face the shocks of the production chain, such as 3D printed technologies with special printers (Armani et al 2020 ).…”
