A traffic data collection and analysis method based on wireless sensor network

Abstract: With the rapid development of urbanization, collecting and analyzing traffic flow data are of great significance to build intelligent cities. The paper proposes a novel traffic data collection method based on wireless sensor network (WSN), which cannot only collect traffic flow data, but also record the speed and position of vehicles. On this basis, the paper proposes a data analysis method based on incremental noise addition for traffic flow data, which provides a criterion for chaotic identification. The met… Show more

“…We chose this sensor because it is a very low-power consumption chipset; it consumes only 8 A in low-power acceleration mode, and 2 A in standby mode. Additionally, it has low noise density and low output noise range [ 38 ]. It is considered as one of the accelerometers with the lowest noise in the low-cost range market.…”

“…Improving transportation system is one of the significant requirements for large gatherings where crowd safety is major concern [4]. For this researcher proposed several intelligent transportation systems, which in turn opened the door for research areas related to traffic data collection, data mining [19][20] [21] processing and analysis [22]. GPS (global position system) sensors are valuable data sources which help in tracking the vehicles by reading their spatial information in real time [23].…”

“…Road section observation and data collection, as a traditional approach, has been frequently undertaken to support traffic analysis to draw some conclusions [ 32 , 33 ]. With the rapid development of numerical simulation technology, traffic simulation has become a feasible, inexpensive and effective method to evaluate a reasonable scheme, among which VISSIM is a widely recognized microscopic traffic simulation tool that has been widely used to verify the effectiveness of various traffic management strategies [ 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 ].…”
