A three-valued magnetic field sensor for data reading

Abstract

Ib read a digital magnetically stored data stream from tape or disk a three-valued magnetic field flipflop sensor is presented which uses the metastability property of a stochastic flip-flop sensor to detect signal transitions. The metastable operation point can be controlled to optimize data readout for data and track detection.
