Underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) have been widely applied in marine scenarios, such as offshore exploration, auxiliary navigation and marine military. Due to the limitations in communication, computation, and storage of underwater sensor nodes, traditional security mechanisms are not applicable to UASNs. Recently, various trust models have been investigated as effective tools towards improving the security of UASNs. However, the existing trust models lack flexible trust update rules, particularly when facing the inevitable dynamic fluctuations in the underwater environment and a wide spectrum of potential attack modes. In this study, a novel trust update mechanism for UASNs based on reinforcement learning (TUMRL) is proposed. The scheme is developed in three phases. First, an environment model is designed to quantify the impact of underwater fluctuations in the sensor data, which assists in updating the trust scores. Then, the definition of key degree is given; in the process of trust update, nodes with higher key degree react more sensitively to malicious attacks, thereby better protecting important nodes in the network. Finally, a novel trust update mechanism based on reinforcement learning is presented, to withstand changing attack modes while achieving efficient trust update. The experimental results prove that our proposed scheme has satisfactory performance in improving trust update efficiency and network security.

Summary The rapid development of satellite communications has brought great convenience to people's lives, as well as huge security challenges. In order to guarantee the security of users, a large number of authentication protocols have been proposed. Recently, Xu et al. proposed an improved mutual authentication protocol based on perfect forward secrecy for satellite communications. In this paper, we will point out that Xu et al.'s protocol cannot resist the offline password guessing attack and the replay attack and fails to provide user untraceability. To overcome these weaknesses, we propose a robust three‐factor‐based authentication protocol for satellite communication systems and analyze its correctness using Burrows–Abadi–Needham logic. In addition, the descriptive security analysis shows that our protocol is safe and robust against various attacks. By comparing with other related protocols, we find that our protocol has better performance.

Cloud computing needs service provider with reliable communication for increasing the user trust. As existence of cloud depends on quality of services, evaluation of this trust value needs to be carried out by the cloud. Many of the web services provided by E-commerce, social sites, digital platform maintain this for the faith of user by estimating the reliability of service provider. This paper focuses on a model that can identify real nodes by its behavior in cloud. Here fuzzy max interval values have been evaluated from the transactional behavior of the node in fixed interval. By increase in transaction count, trust value of real node trust increases and trust value of malicious nodes decreases. The work is based on Role based Access Control (RBAC), which has three type of roles (Admin, Data owner, Node). Data owner content security was achieved by AES algorithm and only trusted node can access those resources. Experiment was performed by carrying out simulations on ideal and environment under attack. Analysis of evaluation parameters values shows that proposed model of fuzzy max interval trust is better as compared to other existing Domain Partition Trust Model (DPTM), for identification of malicious nodes.
