Basic right to decide freely and responsibly when and how many children to have are realized through family planning methods which are abundant in Zimbabwe. Notwithstanding the high contraceptive use prevalence in Zimbabwe women of child bearing age, there still exists an unmet need for contraception. Intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD), is a widely available, highly effective, long term family planning method which is reversible and safe. However, in Zimbabwe the uptake of intrauterine contraceptive device as a method of family planning among women has remained low.
