A Techno-Economic Model for Wind Energy Costs Analysis for Low Wind Speed Areas

Abstract: The global population is moving away from fossil fuel technologies due to their many disadvantages, such as air pollution, greenhouse gases emission, global warming, acid rain, health problems, and high costs. These disadvantages make fossil fuels unsustainable. As a result, renewable energy is becoming more attractive due to its steadily decreasing costs. Harnessing renewable energy promises to meet the present energy demands of the African continent. The enormous renewable energy potential available across t… Show more

“…The edges of the wind turbine pose a threat to wildlife, particularly birds. It also poses a threat to Swofford and Slattery 2010;Adeyeye et al, 2019;Mittal et al, 2010). Solar panels are another source of renewable energy, but they can only produce energy in the presence of sunlight.…”

“…The real‐world limit is below the Betz limit if the numerous engineering needs of a wind turbine, such as strength and durability, are taken into account. As a result, integrating the power coefficient into Equation () yields the available wind power, which is given by Equation () [20, 33] Pavailablebadbreak=12ρAV3Cp$$\begin{equation} {P}_{available} = \frac{1}{2} \rho A{V}^3{C}_p\end{equation}$$…”

“…A Ferris wheel is an amusement ride comprising a rotating upright wheel with different traveller-conveying segments connected to the rim so that as the wheel turns, which are kept upright more often than not by gravity [25]. FWTs are a new technology for harnessing wind and hydroelectric power on an industrial scale but have the promise to be the future of wind energy [26]. FWTs are designed based on the principle of the Ferris wheel and are a type of HAWT.…”
