A technique to study the elastic and inelastic interaction of quarkonium with hadrons using femtoscopic correlations

Abstract: We present a method for the measurement of parameters of elastic and inelastic interactions of charmonium with hadrons. In this technique, we use femtoscopic analysis of charmonium-hadron correlations at low relative momentum and the Lednicky-Lyuboshitz analytical model to extract the interaction parameters. We argue that such a study is already feasible in the LHCb experiment at the LHC, and we discuss the prospects for studies in STAR at RHIC and other experiments at the LHC.

“…In the elastic scenario, J/ψ kinematics will be modified. Inelastically, J/ψ may possibly be broken up [32]. Hence, the final state comover effect may affect J/ψ production yield and will become more prominent at high levels of multiplicity.…”

“…A technique of measuring J/ψ-hadron femtoscopic correlations [15] allows to extract both inelastic and elastic cross sections for the interactions between J/ψ and hadrons from the data. It can be done by measuring J/ψhadron correlation function versus relative momentum of the J/ψ-hadron pair in the pair rest frame and fitting a final state interaction model to the data.…”

“…Various observables are studied, which include spectra, spin alignment(polarization), ratios and charged particle multplicity N ch dependence. New observables are also studied, which include associated quarkonium production, double quarkonium production and quarkonium-hadron femtoscopy [15]. These provide…”
