TX 75083-3836, U.S.A., fax 01-972-952-9435. AbstractBarite sag is a significant variation in mud density caused by the settlement of barite or other weight material in high-angle wells. The wide fluctuations in mud weight can lead to severe operational problems, including well-control, induced wellbore instability, downhole mud losses, and stuck pipe.A laboratory flow loop has been used to evaluate the influence of key drilling parameters on barite sag. Results show that the highest sag occurs at angles in the region 60-75°, particularly at low annular velocities. Drillpipe rotation is shown to be particularly beneficial in minimising barite settlement. Rotation also assists in re-distributing barite deposits formed on the low side of the hole. Data from the tests clearly demonstrate the interdependence of drillpipe eccentricity, rotation, and mud flow rate.Results from the study have been combined with field observations to develop guidelines to minimise barite sag and manage the associated risks. The conclusions of the study are that barite sag can be minimised by attention to detail at the planning and execution stages of drilling a well. In particular, recommendations in four key areas are addressed: well planning, mud properties and testing, operational practices, and wellsite monitoring procedures.

Abstract:Complex structural wells are widely used in the development of marine oilfield, old oilfield and low permeable oilfield. However, poor hole cleaning is often occurred in the highly-deviated sections and horizontal sections of the complex structural wells, which affects rate of penetration and downhole safety.The methods to study cuttings transport can be normally divided into four types: 1) experimental observations, 2) CFD simulations, 3) theoretical correlations and models and 4) field tests. Experimental observations and CFD simulations are mainly used to analyze the effects of different parameters on hole cleaning and obtain some valuable data. Theoretical models and correlations are mainly applied to calculate cuttings bed height, critical velocity and etc to provide the guidance for the design of hydraulic parameters. The accuracy of the first three types are checked by field tests. In this paper, the effects of flow rate, inclination, mud rheology, drillpipe rotation and other factors on hole cleaning, and some typical correlations and models were briefly reviewed before 2000 years, and some new research findings were detailedly addressed. In addition, CFD simulations also were introduced.Although major improvements have been achieved in the past several decades, building a comprehensive and proven model requires much more experimental researches, CFD simulations, in-depth theoretic studies and field tests due to the complexity of cuttings transport under multi-factor interactions.

The physical and mathematical dynamical models of both drilling rig and engineering tools for effort to bring down problems and accidents are considered. An analysis of available methods and mathematical models for studying the operating dynamics of the metal drilling string during geological exploration work and well drilling is made.Key words: drilling, stuck, drilling liquor, impact, vibration, drilling tool, metal drill string.С целью привлечения более широкого круга металлофизиков к поиску новых и усовершенствованию используемых материалов в сфере нефтега-зодобычи проведён обзор имеющихся технических средств и конструкций механизмов, используемых для ликвидации прихватов металлического бурильного инструмента. Выполнен библиографический обзор современ-ных технологий освобождения прихваченной бурильной колонны меха-ническими способами, а также имеющихся математических моделей про-цессов ликвидации прихватов бурильного инструмента. Рассмотрены фи-зические и математические динамические модели буровой установки и технических средств борьбы с осложнениями и авариями. Проведён ана-лиз имеющихся методов и математических моделей для изучения дина-мики работы металлической бурильной колонны при геологоразведке и бурении.Ключевые слова: бурение, прихват, буровой раствор, удар, вибрация, бу-рильный инструмент, металлическая бурильная колона.(Отримано 15 вересня 2017 р.) ВСТУПБуріння нафтових і газових свердловин у сучасних умовах, а саме, глибини, що можуть сягати десятьох і більше кілометрів, проник-нення у процесі буріння в породи з аномально високими чи то низь-кими тисками вимагають удосконалення технології та техніки бу-ріння [1 3]. Складні умови роботи обладнання при бурінні й екс-плуатації свердловин, особливо при ліквідації аварій на них, вису-вають низку специфічних вимог до механічних та електромагнет-них характеристик матеріялів, використовуваних у бурильному устаткуванні різноманітного призначення. Досі лише метали та стопи можуть задовольнити особливо критичним вимогам щодо по-єднання потрібних для буріння значень міцности та пластичности. При цьому постійно йде пошук нових, більш досконалих матеріялів для нафтогазовидобувної промисловости. З метою більш широкого залучення до цього пошуку спеціялістів у галузі металофізики є по-треба в детальному ознайомленні їх з особливостями процесу бурін-ня та умовами, у яких мають працювати шукані матеріяли, задово-льняючи відповідним технічним вимогам.
