“…Mangiferin-type flavonoids shared the same aglycone structure, the aglycone and sugar of which formed C-glycosides, and C-glycosides tended to lose CH 2 O units during MS, and 2/3 and 3/4 CH 2 O units could be eliminated from sugar molecules through 0,3 X/ 0,2 X cleavage [5, 25]; therefore, under the negative ion mode, the C-glycosides easily lost the neutral fragments at m/z 90 (C 3 H 6 O 3 ) and 120 (C 4 H 8 O 4 ), enabling the rapid and efficient identification of mangiferin-type flavonoids based on the two characteristic neutral loss ions. The structures of chalcone-type flavonoids possessed the same B ring and C ring cracking, with fragment ions at m/z 119 [C 8 H 7 O] − or 146 [C 9 H 6 O 2 ] − produced by A and B ring cleavage during MS (negative ion mode).…”

“…Flavanones formed two main complementary fragments at m/z 119 [C 8 H 7 O] − and 165 [C 8 H 5 O 4 ] − by C ring for RDA cleavage. Anthocyanin aglycones possess the same aglycone structure and could be rapidly identified according to their aglycone fragment of m/z 367 [C 21 H 19 O 6 ] − and neutral loss molecules of m/z 162 (C 6 H 10 O 5 ) and 132 (C 5 H 8 O 4 ) [5, 25, 29, 31, 32]. …”

“…Advances in the development of up-to-date instrumental methods, especially in high-performance mass spectrometers (32), but also the introduction of label-free quantitative analyses of proteins and other biological molecules by use of new bioinformatic tools (33,34) substantially helped in overcoming these limitations (35). The importance of proper sample preparation and the introduction of laboratory robotics for high-throughput analyses have also found necessary recognition (1,9,18,20,(36)(37)(38)(39)(40).…”

“…The detection of marker molecules is highly important for food safety, and there is no surprise that most references regarding the application of this method point to works that were performed by this instrument (18,(33)(34)(35)(36)55,57,138,141,173). A further interesting application of this method for control of food safety and authenticity is the determination of the triacylglycerol profi le of Iberian dry-cured ham (194).…”
