System Dynamics (SD) applications in high volume production operations is ubiquitous, helping to define decision rules to reduce costs associated with the variance in planning orders and inventory. The exploitation of SD in engineer-to-order (ETO) project-oriented supply chains, e.g., in construction, shipbuilding, and capital goods, is less well established. Hence, this research reviews papers which take a systematic ETO perspective modelling construction project, exploiting SD approaches. To comprehensively identify and filter previously published papers, we use a keyword searching method using Web of Science and Scopus databases. After applying relevant exclusion criteria, 145 papers are finally selected. While there have been previous reviews of ETO literature more generally, this paper contributes to the body of knowledge by specifically reviewing SD applications in ETO industries and providing insights by creating a categorization system by which to determine where existing gaps reside. Papers are categorized into the classic four phases of a project: aggregated planning, pre-project planning, project execution, and post-delivery phase. Analyses of the methods, attributes and applications of SD are undertaken for each phase. Findings indicate that SD research covers the range of ETO industries of which construction is the most dominant, demonstrating SD's high applicability. The wealth of case-orientated research in the construction field provides a solid foundation for further SD studies in the ETO field. Further research should focus on 1) developing a general ETO archetype used for performance benchmarking and strategy development in construction projects, 2) introducing analytical tools, such as control theoretic approaches as found in manufacturing production planning and control design, to improve understanding of the ETO systems' dynamic behaviors, and 3) developing cross-phase, cross-project, design production integrated, aggregated planning models via hybrid techniques modelling, which can contribute to a better understanding of an ETO system's performance.

The government, the community, or non-governmental organisations can all participate in the reconstruction process after a disaster. The management of material procurement and logistics may entail participation from several stakeholders. It may be crucial to a project’s success in reconstruction. A reliable supply chain is required to guarantee an appropriate building supply. The supply chain for building materials significantly impacts the course and results of reconstruction after a disaster. This study intends to map the post-disaster restoration process’s formation of the construction supply chain pattern. In order to detect potential issues and disturbances that could contribute to the failure of the post-disaster restoration process, the supply chain pattern for building materials is being mapped. The path of the supply chain for construction materials is undoubtedly significantly impacted by post-disaster environmental circumstances. Because it can impact project prices and timelines, the choice of building material suppliers is crucial in construction supply chain management. During the reconstruction process in disaster-affected areas, this research used qualitative approaches by conducting surveys and questionnaires to gather data and facts.

Power transmission and transformation projects (PTTPs) under new energy grid connections are different from ordinary engineering construction projects. With large investment amounts, various supporting facilities, and high safety and quality requirements, PTTPs are vulnerable to the volatility of new energy power generation, climate, geological conditions, geopolitical environment, technological changes, and other kinds of uncertain factors. Therefore, the investment risk of PTTPs under new energy grid connection is particularly considerable in the project management. For the owner of PTTPs, adopting the engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) mode is an effective attempt to solve the project construction problems faced by the owners. Thus, this paper deeply excavates the key risk points of PTTPs in the initial investment phase under the EPC mode and constructs the novel risk evaluation index system from the perspectives of economy, management, policy, society, and environment. An assessment model is established based on triangle fuzzy number-hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets (HFLTS-TFNs), the entropy method, and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, which is used to evaluate the investment risk of PTTPs to provide reference for power grid corporations to control project risks. Finally, a case study in the Hexi Corridor region, Gansu Province, China, is illustrated to demonstrate the rationality of the decision model and find management risks are the most vital risk factors for PTTPs under EPC mode.
