Abstract:Petroleum port site selection is examined in the broad context of the total transportation system from production to consumption area. Basic systems engineering approaches are applied to the problem to formulate a mathematical model which permits all transportation system variables, including capital and operating costs, to be put in quantitative form. An example of the computer solution is given, along with a discussion of the principal calculations involved. Unit transportation cost is selected as the measur… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
