A systematic study of mass spectra and strong decay of strange mesons

Abstract: The mass spectrum of the kaon family is analyzed by the modified Godfrey-Isgur model with a color screening effect approximating the kaon as a heavy-light meson system. This analysis gives us the structure and possible assignments of the observed kaon candidates, which can be tested by comparing the theoretical results of their two-body strong decays with the experimental data. Additionally, prediction of some partial decay widths is made on the kaons still missing in experiment. This study is crucial to estab… Show more

“…As K * 2 (1980) is treated as 1 3 F 2 sate, the dominant decay channel is shown to be K 1 (1270)π which is not observed in experiments. K 4 (2500) is the possible candidate of the 2G state [17,41] and the fitted value is in accordance with the experimental data. K * 5 (2380) is assigned as the 1 3 G 5 state and needs confirmation [39].…”

“…Except t quark, the other quarks can form mesons, baryons ,and other hadrons. As an important part of hadron, the meson family is phenomenologically studied by many works [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. When checking the experimental status of mesons [10], we notice an interesting phenomenon, the whole meson family with J PC = 5 ++ (with qq component, here q defines u, d, or s quark) is still missing, yet the other families for a and f meson (such as a 0 , a 1 , a 2 , a 3 , a 4 , and a 6 ) have been reported by Particle Data Group(PDG) [10].…”

“…In this work, the spectra of the φ meson family are studied using the modified Godfrey-Isgur (MGI) model [33][34][35][36], which contains the screening effect. At higher excited states of φ meson, the screening effect should be considered for the larger average distance between the quark pair.…”
