Purpose The aim of the study is to conduct a reliability and validity study of the Ego Function Assessment (EFA) scale. Design and Methods The study was conducted with a total of 426 participants, which included 213 patients with schizophrenia and a control group of 213 normal individuals. The Individual Information Form, EFA Scale, Wonderlic Personnel Test, Adjective Check List, and Symptom Check List were used for data collection. Finding All the statistical procedures performed in the validity and reliability stages of the study show that the scale is a valid, reliable measurement tool for the Turkish culture. Practice Implications In psychiatric nursing, the use of the EFA scale can be recommended for planning individual patient care, which involves the assessment of a patient's functional adjustment on the basis of their own ego profile.

This paper presents the system "Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnosis (OPD), which has been applied in the German speaking countries very successfully during the last 10 years. The OPD is the operationalization of the psychodynamically oriented clinical assessment. The clinical material assessed during the initial interview with the patient is described in a way which is close to the level of observation. The classification system OPD serves as a clinically relevant and process oriented tool for psychotherapists. The multidimensional psychodynamically oriented approach is based on five axes. Axis I: Experience with the illness and treatment preconditions, axis II: habituated relationships of the patient, axis III: the intrapsychic conflicts of the patient; axis IV: The psychic structure of the patient, axis V: syndromatic, according to chapter V (F) of the ICD 10. The fifth axis is conzeptualized as a linking tool to ICD-10. Reliability studies on OPD show good to satisfying scores for interrater agreement for the research context. The results derived from the validity studies support the validity of the OPD system. There are also hints for improvements of multiple categories or items within each axis. Key words: ARTÍCULO ORIGINAL Introducción del OPDn Alemania, el año 1990, psicoanalistas, expertos en medicina psicosomáticas y psiquiatras fundaron un grupo de trabajo sobre el "diagnóstico psicodinámico operacionalizado" (OPD). Este grupo tenía como objetivo ampliar la clasificación de trastornos psíquicos del CIE-10, basada en una descripción sintomatológica. El grupo de trabajo del OPD desarrolló un inventario diagnóstico y creó un manual (1,2) de entrenamiento y aplicación clínica para terapeutas con experiencia. Además se publicaron formularios de respuesta (3,4) para cada eje, con el fin de facilitar su aplicación y aumentar así la confiabilidad. La operacionalización de los constructos se desarrolló en un nivel medio de abstracción para que se pueda realizar una evaluación en un nivel lo más cercano posible a lo observable. Mientras tanto, muchos psicoterapeutas han pedido cono-E 106 www.sonepsyn.cl cer y aplicar el OPD en su trabajo. El manual del OPD se tradujo al inglés, italiano y húngaro. La versión en español se encuentra en proceso de traducción. Más de 4.000 terapeutas han sido capacitados en diferentes centros de formación de habla germana. Para poder conocer las debilidades y fortalezas del OPD se recomienda no sólo leer el manual. La riqueza, pero también la complejidad, se evidencia recién en el análisis y discusión de un caso grabado en video. En diversas clínicas psicosomáticas, clínicas para tratar adicciones, departamentos universitarios de psicoterapia y tratamientos psicosomáticos, se aplica el OPD en proyectos de investigación, y también, con menor frecuencia, en programas de asistencia psicoterpéutica.El terapeuta clínico (o un observador externo) puede, después de una primera entrevista de 1 a 2 horas, estimar la dinámica psíquica del paciente, basándose en las categorías del OPD, e ...
