A System Dynamics Approach for Evaluating the Synergy Degree of Social Organizations Participating in Community and Home-Based Elderly Care Services

Abstract: As the number of elderly continues to increase in China, anxiety about related problems has encouraged special care for the elderly. Social organizations participating in community and home-based elderly care services (SO-CHECS) seem to be a promising way to address these problems, but it also raises new challenges, such as uncoordinated cooperation among stakeholders, which would lead to low elderly care service quality and hinder the active participation of social organizations. However, synergetic developme… Show more

“…Community elderly healthcare service originated from the concept of community care, which first appeared in Britain in the 1950s (Walker, 1987). Initially, scholars proposed three types of community care: care in the community, care by the community, and care for the community (Zhang and Yang, 2019;Li, 2020;Shao et al, 2022). Care in the community refers to a former elderly care service supplied by a specialized institution in the community.…”

“…As shown in Table 2, only eleven departments were involved in the formulation of CCRC policies between 2000 and 2013. The Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) issued the most documents (9), followed by the SC (7). It is important to note that the number of policies issued by all departments is small.…”

“…Meanwhile, those in need of intense health care, who constitute a small percentage of the older population, are housed in such institutions as nursing homes [6]. Downsized family structures and relevant societal developments, however, have relentlessly pressured care, shaking customary local patterns of home and institutional care [7].…”

“…For underground structures, it is widely believed that the displacement and amplitude produced by underground structures under earthquake action are relatively smaller than those of surface structures due to the restraint of the surrounding soil, and the seismic action on underground structures will be smaller than that on surface structures, so people pay less attention to the seismic resistance of underground structures. Most of the existing studies have focused on the seismic resistance of surface structures [16][17][18][19][20]. However, the large earthquakes that have occurred in recent years have shown that underground structures can also be severely damaged when subjected to strong ground motions, and many studies have investigated the damage patterns of tunnel structures during seismic events [21][22][23][24][25], and the issue of seismic damage to underground building structures is gradually gaining attention.…”
