A Synthetic Approach to Methyl Thieno[2,3-d][1,2,3]thiadiazole Carboxylates via Diazotation

Abstract

A route to methyl thieno [2,3-d][1,2,3]thiadiazole carboxylates 3 as highly potent inducers of systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is reported. The construction of the appropriately substituted thiophene precursors is elaborated. Cyclization towards the thiadiazole ring system was carried out using diazotation techniques.
