A SWARA-CoCoSo-Based Approach for Spray Painting Robot Selection

Abstract: In order to avoid working in a constrained hazardous environment, manual spray painting operation is gradually being replaced by automated robotic systems in many manufacturing industries. Application of spray painting robots ensures defect-free painting of dissimilar components with higher repeatability, flexibility, productivity, reduced cycle time and minimum wastage of paint. Due to availability of a large number of viable options in the market, selection of a spray painting robot suitable for a given appl… Show more

“…These situation shows that the CoCoSo method is a robust method, which has advantages in reliability of the obtaining results (Peng et al, 2019;Lai et al, 2020;Torkayesh et al, 2021). As explained in Appendix A.6, CoCoSo solves multi-criteria problems reliable and easily (Yazdani et al, 2019;Ecer et al, 2019;Kumar et al, 2022).…”

“…The best option is the one that simultaneously guarantees the smallest repeatability and the largest four other criteria (including load capacity, maximum tip speed, memory capacity, and manipulator reach). In [6], two methods WARA (Weighted Average Return on Assets) and COCOSO (COmbined COmpromise SOlution) were used to rank twelve different robots. Both of these methods together determine the best solution.…”

“…This method is user-friendly, less complicated and less time consuming. It also gives decision makers the opportunity to choose and assess the criteria and set their weights, while enabling experts to use their knowledge and experience in the research area (Hashemkhani Zolfani et al, 2018;Kumar et al, 2022). The initial version of this method was not efficient in the face of situations where decision makers' information is unreliable and incomplete.…”
