A Survey on the Role of System Dynamics Methodology on Fossil Fuel Resources Analysis

Abstract: In today's world, fossil fuel resources are still the main source for energy supply. Many attempts have been done in order to develop alternative sources of energy, since fossil fuel resources are limited and will be depleted soon or late. Despite these efforts, as international energy organizations declare, fossil fuel resources have the largest share in the world's energy supply. Therefore, the study of exploration, production, and exploitation dynamics of these resources, has been considered a significant t… Show more

“…Next, we will point out a basic paper by Kiani et al (2010) composing an analyzing survey on the role of SD methodology on fossil fuel resources. Besides the illustration of the role of SD in fossil fuel resources analysis, their paper reviews in particular the pioneering SD models in this field of fossil fuels.…”

“…System dynamics have been used to study the market penetration of alternative fuel vehicles (Gillingham and Leaver, 2008; Janssen et al , 2006; Struben and Sterman, 2007; Supple, 2007), to model the urban transportation related issues of road congestion, modal‐split (Khanna et al , 1985; Wang et al , 2008) and emissions (Piattelli et al , 2002; Stepp et al , 2009). Kiani et al (2010) gives a detailed survey on the application of system dynamics in energy system modeling. Meadows et al (2004) has utilised system dynamics in the study of nonrenewable energy resources.…”
