The rapid expansion of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and applications has accelerated research in various areas of human development. However, the cost of commercial instrumentation impedes the momentum of technological growth in developing regions. In this study, a low-cost, low-power, wireless sensor network for groundwater monitoring (LWNGM) was developed to provide near real-time groundwater level data to support prudent decision making in groundwater resource management in Zanzibar, Tanzania. To facilitate reproducibility, we provided a detailed description of the LWNGM development procedure. The system is based on the ATmega328P microcontroller platform and incorporates low-cost MS5803-14BA and MB280 sensors. To provide a low-power scheme, the Arduino UNO wakes up in six-hour intervals for measurements and data-logging to the SD card, and at twelve-hour intervals for relaying data (in batches) to the LoRa gateway, before it goes back into a deep-sleep mode for the rest of the time (duty cycle<1% ). The average power consumption for the end node across all system cycles was 104.081mW. The power autonomy of all nodes is provided by a 3.7V, 5000mAh rechargeable LiPo battery, and a 9V, 600mAh rechargeable Liion battery, respectively, which are supported by 6V and, 3W solar chargers. The data processing and storage components, as well as the data visualization dashboard, were created using free and open-source software. The LWNGM was reasonably priced, ranging between $350 and $400. The proposed system allows for the adoption of hydrological monitoring, particularly in areas with a limited budget for hydrologic management.

WBANs (Wireless Body Area Networks) are frequently depicted as a paradigm shift in healthcare from traditional to modern E-Healthcare. The vitals of the patient signs by the sensors are highly sensitive, secret, and vulnerable to numerous adversarial attacks. Since WBANs is a real-world application of the healthcare system, it’s vital to ensure that the data acquired by the WBANs sensors is secure and not accessible to unauthorized parties or security hazards. As a result, effective signcryption security solutions are required for the WBANs’ success and widespread use. Over the last two decades, researchers have proposed a slew of signcryption security solutions to achieve this goal. The lack of a clear and unified study in terms of signcryption solutions can offer a bird’s eye view of WBANs. Based on the most recent signcryption papers, we analyzed WBAN’s communication architecture, security requirements, and the primary problems in WBANs to meet the aforementioned objectives. This survey also includes the most up to date signcryption security techniques in WBANs environments. By identifying and comparing all available signcryption techniques in the WBANs sector, the study will aid the academic community in understanding security problems and causes. The goal of this survey is to provide a comparative review of the existing signcryption security solutions and to analyze the previously indicated solution given for WBANs. A multi-criteria decision-making approach is used for a comparative examination of the existing signcryption solutions. Furthermore, the survey also highlights some of the public research issues that researchers must face to develop the security features of WBANs.

COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus disease that has been declared as a global pandemic in 2019. It affects the whole world through personto-person communication. This virus spreads by the droplets of coughs and sneezing, which are quickly falling over the surface. Therefore, anyone can get easily affected by breathing in the vicinity of the COVID-19 patient. Currently, vaccine for the disease is under clinical investigation in different pharmaceutical companies. Until now, multiple medical companies have delivered health monitoring kits. However, a wireless body area network (WBAN) is a healthcare system that consists of nano sensors used to detect the real-time health condition of the patient. The proposed approach delineates is to fill a gap between recent technology trends and healthcare structure. If COVID-19 affected patient is monitored through WBAN sensors and network, a physician or a doctor can guide the patient at the right time with the correct possible decision. This scenario helps the community to maintain social distancing and avoids an unpleasant environment for hospitalized patients Herein, a Monte Carlo algorithm guided protocol is developed to probe a secured cipher output. Security cipher helps to avoid wireless network issues like packet loss, network attacks, network interference, and routing problems. Monte Carlo based covid-19 detection technique gives 90% better results in terms of time complexity, performance, and efficiency. Results indicate that Monte Carlo based covid-19 detection technique with edge computing idea is robust in terms of time complexity, performance, and efficiency and thus, is advocated as a significant application for lessening hospital expenses.
