A Survey on Enhanced Smart Micro-Grid Management System with Modern Wireless Technology Contribution

Abstract: Micro-grid (MG) deployment has dramatically become more popular with the high penetration of renewable energy resources (RER). This trend brings with it the merits of independent power grid clean energy resource-based systems, and simultaneously the demerits of an unstable grid due to the intermittent nature of RER. Control and monitoring of MG through robust and ubiquitous communication system infrastructure is the solution to overcoming this intermittency. There has been an increasing focus in recent years o… Show more

“…In the IEEE domain, 1547 is a series of standards that determine operation, control, monitoring, and integration of the micro grid for utility network AS provision. The main drawback of this standard is the unclear detail of establishing communication in the micro grid through the supervisory level of power system such as TSO/DSO [60].…”

The three most important energy storage currently selected are fuel cell, Lithium battery, and supercapacitor.…”

“…Given the autonomous feature of microgrid, it is primarily widely applied in remote places. With the advent of smart inverters, enhanced control systems, and electricity markets, the microgrid integrates into the utility grid [2]. This schema calls for an intelligent control system called the energy management system (EMS) that inspects the microgrid's technical priorities and stakeholders' objectives and finds optimal future action of the system [3].…”
