Day (1981c) mentions that the majority of the fish in southern Mozambique (80%), Natal (70%) and Transkei (59%) extend northwards and are termed tropical, while Branch & Grindley (1979) found that 53% of the fish fauna in the Mngazana estuary have tropical affinities.…”
