Abstract-A large portion of existing multithreaded embedded sofware has been programmed according to symmetric shared memory platforms where a monolithic memory block is shared by all cores. Such platforms accommodate popular parallel programming models such as POSIX threads and OpenMP. However with the growing number of cores in modern manycore embedded architectures, they present a bottleneck related to their centralized memory accesses. This paper proposes a solution tailored for an efficient execution of applications defined with shared-memory programming models onto on-chip distributed-memory multicore architectures. It shows how performance, area and energy consumption are significantly improved thanks to the scalability of these architectures. This is illustrated in an open-source realistic design framework, including tools from ASIC to microkernel.

SOA is an architectural style that promotes solutions, especially service-based applications to support flexible business processes, where services are loosely coupled and interoperable components. Many methods have been developed in industry and academia. Yet the comparison frameworks show that these methods neither comply with SOA nor service orientation principles. Therefore, we need theoretical frameworks to guide developing methods and processes. A meta-service framework, representing the relationships between all the elements of a multifaceted services stack from different perspectives, would guide a development process. We propose an architecture made up of four interrelated facets that are: (F1) service contract description, (F2) modernization of legacy applications and databases, (F3) deployment and management, and (F4) service based applications by composition, including orchestration and choreography. Each facet is considered as a level of abstraction that is concreted into a phase of the process.

Abstract. Cloud computing is currently recognized as an important platform technology that enables service clouds supporting the Software as a Service (SaaS) paradigm. This paper presents the REMICS Methodology, which combines the model-driven approach with agile practices, for the migration of legacy applications to service clouds. The paper gives an overview of the methodology and its application in one case study, the issues faced by three case study providers in applying the methodology and the results of a questionnaire of the applicability of agile practices in addressing the issues.
