A Survey of Bell System Progress in Electronic Switching*

Abstract: This article is a survey‐type discussion of the Bell System's No. 1 Electronic Switching System for central office use and No. 101 Electronic Switching System for business use. For both systems it presents background history and descriptions of the major subsystems and components. It also covers recent manufacture, installation and commercial service of these two systems.
