Abstract:Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) in children is associated with the complicating syndromes of cholestasis and cholelithiasis. The causes of these syndromes are not completely clear. Gastrointestinal hypomotility associated with enteral fasting may be involved in the pathogenesis of both syndromes.
