Abstract:Providing quality emergency obstetric care reduces the risk of maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity. A "high-risk pregnancy" is one in which the maternal environment and past or present reproductive performance contribute to a significant risk to fetal wellbeing such as premature birth, small for date infant, full-term with still births or early neonatal deaths.
