A Study on Utilization of the Waterfront Environments for Developing Attractive River Spaces

Abstract

Yousuke YAJIMA Tomohide OKADA To elucidate the relation between three parties (i.e., "piers," "riverside promenades," and "Waterfront considered buildings," which utilize the waterfront environment as an attractive river space), analyses were conducted based on the following perspectives: 1. The Doutonbori River, which has been utilized for conducting various activities in the river space for 17 years, was used for analyzing the role and effectiveness of the river-administrator's phased strategic processes. 2. The Water Corridors area, where several types of "Waterfront considered buildings" developed using various methods coexist, was used for analyzing the locational characteristics of "Waterfront considered buildings" in the areas around the piers.
