A study on using of protease for removal of animal glue adhesive in textile conservation

Abstract: Animal glue has been used to fix historical textiles on paper, wood panels, or other rigid support materials. It is often present in shrunk, cracked, rigid, and brittle form because of the aged condition artifacts and may not provide enough adhesion for effective support causing damage to historical textiles. The biotechnological application of enzymes seems to be a very promising approach in the restoration of historical objects. In this experimental work, undertaken with modern linen and silk fabrics, intere… Show more

“…From Figure 9(b), it is clear that pure PMMA has an amorphous nature characterized by an amorphous halo (a large hump) at 2θ = 14.56° with no sharp peak. This shows that it is a glassy material because of the absence of a crystalline peak 2…”

“…Blends also can be commercially rewarding if they improve processability and performance. Other advantages of polymer blending are versatility; simplicity, and inexpensiveness 2. The general morphologies and final blend properties depend not only on the individual properties of blend components but also on their degree of miscibility 3.…”

“…Adding to the identification of the manifestations of damage in the fiber that nobody can see it by the naked eye. A small fiber from different parts of Historical Carpet was taken, then it investigated by using a Quanta 200 ESEM FEG from FEI Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) [6,7]. X-ray diffraction analysis: X-ray diffraction of fabrics used in order to identify the type of dirt, mordents in fibers, and any crystalline matters in the historical Carpet.…”
