Abstract

Abstractp‐Tolylsulfenyl chloride adds regioselectively at the C(11)  C(12) bond of cembrene 1 to give 11‐(R)‐p‐tolylthio‐1‐(S)‐cembra‐2E, 4Z, 7E, 12(20)‐tetraene 2 following a rapid HCl elimination. Two new cembranoids, 1‐(S)‐cembra‐2E, 4Z, 7E, 12(20)‐tetraene 3 and 1‐(S)‐cembra‐2E, 4Z, 7E, 11Z‐tetraen‐20‐ol 4 are prepared from 2.
