Museums are expanding their functions by preserving artifacts and providing education and experience. In recent years, the need for museums has increased as their services have expanded from offering traditional features to becoming venues for social communication. However, as many museums were temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of their functions had to be implemented through online platforms and VR techniques. However, there is still a lack of technology and research for implementing online content in museums, and research on this subject is required. Therefore, this study analyzed technologies and research trends related to implementing online museum content to build baseline data for realizing online museum experiences in the future. To this end, this study selected six large museums among national and public museums, that provide online services, and analyzed the methods for implementation, viewing, and information collection of each museum's online content. This process allowed us to suggest directions for future research by analyzing the problems related to current online museum content. However, a limitation of this study is that it did not verify the issues of the online museum content presented through the analysis. This area will have to be verified with various methods in the future.
