Violence against children affects their well-being globally, with a greater burden in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). This scoping review aimed to summarize the available evidence on parenting programs for reducing violence against children in LMICs and identify knowledge gaps in this area. Six English databases and gray literature were systematically searched to identify studies in LMICs that examined the efficacy of parenting programs to prevent violence against children, before April 15, 2023. A total of 4,183 independent studies were identified, of which 31 met the inclusion criteria. The majority were conducted in Africa and Asia, delivered by trained local community/childcare workers and lay workers, and targeted younger children aged <10 years. Although the core modules varied in terms of number of group sessions and age of the children, the majority emphasized the importance of building a positive relationship with children and nonviolent discipline strategies. The vast majority demonstrated intervention efficacy in reducing general maltreatment and physical and emotional abuse, and improving positive parenting. Ineffective programs for violence tended to be characterized by self-designed programs, small sample sizes, and low corporal punishment levels in the baseline assessment. In conclusion, parenting programs are promising for preventing and reducing the risk factors for violence in LMICs. Future intervention studies should expand to low-income countries outside Eastern Africa with more trials targeting older children, utilizing direct observational assessments, designing core modules relevant to child neglect, involving more male caregivers, and conducting long-term follow-up assessments.

This study aims to evaluate whether the training offered about child abuse and neglect to families in which there are disagreements and problems between parents will be effective in enhancing awareness. Background: Even if families are the places where children are the safest, they sometimes constitute the risky groups in terms of neglect and abuse. Parents could perpetrate physical and emotional abuses against their children due to conflicts with their spouses. Method: The research was conducted as a pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental study. A total of 142 parents (71 couples) took part in the research. The Socio-Demographic Information Form, the Abuse Awareness Scale -Parent Form and the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale were used as the data collection tools. Awareness training on child neglect and abuse, created by the researcher, was given to parents. Results: Before the training, the mean of pre-test scores obtained by participant parents from the AAS-PF was 62.5 AE 7.77 points. The mean of post-test scores obtained by participant parents from the AAS-PF was 47.5 AE 4.94 points. There was a statistically significant relationship between participant parents' AAS-PF and RDAS scores. Implications: In line with the findings obtained from the research, disagreements between spouses pose a risk for children in terms of neglect and abuse. As the main parent and guardian, mothers are often concerned with the study performance of their children.More specifically, most mothers are eager to know the concrete examination scores of their children. However, with the continuous progress of modern education systems, most schools or teachers have now been forbidden to release sensitive student examination scores to the public due to privacy concerns, which has made it infeasible for mothers to know the real study level or examination performance of their children. Therefore, a conflict has come to exist between teachers and mothers, which harms the general growing up of students in their study. In view of this challenge, we propose a Privacy-aware Examination Results Ranking (PERR) method to attempt at balancing teachers' privacy disclosure concerns and the mothers' concerns over their children's examination performance.By drawing on a relevant case study, we prove the effectiveness of the proposed PERR method in evaluating and ranking students according to their examination scores while at the same time securing sensitive student information.
