Abstract: One of the main problems with hydraulic structures is that floating silt, gravel, ice sand, boulders, and other materials circulating over a concrete surface have an abrasive effect that causes hydraulic structures to abrade. Abrasion causes concrete to degrade, which could eventually expose the reinforcing to corrosion.
