A Study on Development Direction of Navigation System for NAVWAR

Abstract: NAVWAR (NAVigation WARfare) such as an integral part of EW (Electronic Warfare) for making navigation systems malfunctioning expands rapidly in the future military warfare. First of all, Navigation systems of ground radio and satellite were investigated. And the definition of NAVWAR and vulnerability related to GNSS were analyzed. As a result, we propose the development direction for future navigation system such as constructing eLoran system, developing an integrated receiver, establishing alert steps of watc… Show more

“…As examples of these systems, integration of GPS (Global Positioning System) and ground based navigation system in U.S. (United Station) and GPS/eLoran in U.K. (United Kingdom) have been planned and carried out [7][8][9]. In Korea, a research on a multi radio integrated navigation system, in which GPS, KNSS (Korean Navigation Satellite System) and ground based navigation systems are integrated, have been being carried out for the outage of GPS [11][12][13][14][15].…”

“…Navigation outputs can be provided by combining GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) with other radio navigation systems even for the outage of GNSS [1][2][3][4][5]. Before a multi radio integrated navigation system, in which GNSS is combined with other radio navigation systems, is operated in real-time, performance evaluations and tests should be performed.…”
