A Study of the Solvent Extraction of Thorium with Thiocyanate

Abstract: A study of the effects of organic solvents, acidity and the Concentration of thiocyanate on the effectiveness of the solvent extraction of thorium has been undertaken. It has been found that both cyclohexanol and a mixture of isoamyl alcohol and ethyl acetate were effective solvents, and the most favorable acidity for the extraction of thorium was at pH 4, and the extractability of thorium increased with increasing thiocyanate concentration, reached a maximum value when thiocyanate concentration was 3N, and th… Show more
