A study of the layout planning of plant facility based on the timed Petri net and systematic layout planning

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to solve the problems of unreasonable layout of the production plant, disorder of the logistics process, and unbalanced production line in discrete manufacturing plants. By analyzing the production process and characteristics, the timed Petri net model is constructed according to the function and connection of each production unit, which is then used to generate a FlexSim simulation model of the production plant logistics system with a simulation software. Therewith the FlexSim … Show more

“…The purpose is to find the optimal layout of said plant, minimizing travel routes, reducing disorder in the process and, in some cases, solving problems related to the design of the plant layout [17]. [12] planning of the design of the facilities, this is proposed under the Petri net models and simulated with Flexim software to, first, simulate the current situation of the company and then simulate the improvement with the SLP. In this simulation he managed to solve the problems: poorly distributed plant, inefficient logistics and the unbalance of the production line, which generated blockages and inactivity in the production flow.…”

“…Reference [12] proposed a decision-making solution based on data envelopment analysis for facility layout problems, with minimizing and maximizing standards as input and output variables respectively, and finally used VisFactory planning layout software for simulation to determine the feasibility of this method. References [13,14] improved the facility layout of the workshop through the use of a systematic layout design method and listed some feasible solutions. The effectiveness of this method in layout was further validated through simulation using Flexsim.…”

“…To properly track containers and CHE in both layouts, we have adopted a simple rulebased strategy similar to [35][36][37] for both CHE assignment and its respective routing, where containers are assigned to the first closest available CHE; and, if no such CHE is available, the containers will be stalled until the required CHE is ready. Once assigned, the routing of CHE will be subsequently initiated.…”
