A Study of Some Variables Related to Farmers' Knowledge in The Field of Irrigation Water Conservation at Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate

Abstract

T HIS RESEARCH aimed to identify the knowledge of the respondents' farmers in the field of irrigation water conservation related to the knowledge items concerning the axes of conservation and protection of irrigation water from pollution at Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. A questionnaire form with individual interviews was applied to collect data from a random sample comprised of 155 respondents in the village of Qabrit, Fowa District, during the period from March to June 2020. Data were analyzed using some statistical techniques; mean, standard deviation, percentages, and frequencies, additionally the simple correlation coefficient of Pearson, and multiple regression correlation models. The most important results were: 1( About half of the respondents surveyed )52.3%( were classified as medium knowledge level regarding the knowledge overall items of both main studied axes, in the field of irrigation water conservation. 2( The largest percentage of respondents )58.7%(, )60%( were the same medium knowledge level in the two main axes studied, namely, irrigation water conservation and irrigation water protection from pollution, respectively 3( Nearly two thirds of respondents' farmers )60.6%( relied on their personal experiences as a main source of information regarding their conservation of irrigation water. 4( The variable of the respondents' age is solely responsible for interpretation 38.3% of the variation in the knowledge degree of the respondents.
