A study of short term memory-character presentation and masking stimulus time, and their order

Abstract

Duplex theory of human memory is widely accepted, that is, By remaining strongly an information to the Short Term Memory which is first step of memory, the information is easy to move into the Long Term Memory ." We studied on view of that upper point "How to give the information a person for growing up the memory?" The purpose of this paper is to investigate what kind of fac tors and characteri st ics infl uence to the Short-TermMemory.Main results are as follows:1) Large affects to improvement of memory are character presenta tion and total presentation time.z) It is difficult to memory in the middle of the character string.3) When the total presentation time is short, strong cause of the oblivion is interference with the information which was stored formerly in the short term memory. But When the total presen tation time becomes longer, reduct ion of the information by lapse of time becomes large,
