A Strong Synergism of Low Birth Weight and Prenatal Smoking on Asthma in Schoolchildren
Abstract:WHAT'S KNOWN ON THIS SUBJECT:Smoking during pregnancy is associated with airway inflammation and asthma in the offspring. It also increases the risk of impaired intrauterine growth and low birth weight. Low birth weight, in turn, is associated with decreased lung function independently of smoking.
