A Step-by-Step Conservative Approach for CAD-CAM Laminate Veneers

Abstract: The use of CAD/CAM technology has allowed the fabrication of ceramic restorations efficiently and with predictable results. Lithium disilicate is a type of glass ceramic material that can be used for the elaboration of laminate veneers, being monolithic restorations which require characterization through a covering ceramic in order to achieve acceptable esthetic results. The next case report shows a predictable clinical protocol for the rehabilitation of the anterior teeth through the preparation of CAD/CAM ve… Show more

“…(15) Moreover, the patient's occlusion and function must be taken into consideration when selecting the material. (15)(16)(17) Lithium disilicate glass ceramic is the favorable material for CAD/CAM veneers because of the advantage of their significantly higher strength, which can be more than five times stronger than feldspathic porcelain. (17,19,20) The disadvantage is these veneers milled out of a single block of material, which limits the variation in achievable color.…”

“…Therefore, the conservative preparation and cementation technique are required to ensure predictable outcome of ceramic veneers. (16,17) There are four different designs of teeth preparations. (12)(13)(14) The first, window preparation (Figure 1A); the incisal edge of the tooth is preserved.…”
