A Statistical Test for Nested Radial Dea Models

Abstract: Some problems in economics, operations research, and engineering may be approached by means of a pair of radial DEA models that are nested, i.e., that the set of constraints of one of them is included in that of the other. In this paper we have focused on analyzing the marginal role of a given variable, called candidate, with respect to the efficiency measured by means of a DEA model. First, we have defined a new efficiency contribution measure (ECM), which finally compares the efficiency scores of the two rad… Show more

“…In addition, we follow prior simulation studies on frontier models and assume that the noise term has a standard normal distribution and the inefficiency term a half-normal distribution (Pastor et al 2002;Coelli 2005 situation, we want our experiment to include a moderate measurement error. In our experiment, the ratio between the variances of simulated inefficiency and the noise distributions is equal to 5.13, which, according to Banker and Natarajan (2009), corresponds to a situation with moderate measurement errors.…”
