Huntington's disease (HD) is a complex neurodegenerative genetic condition that affects motor, cognitive and behavioural functioning ( Quarrell, 1999 ; Walker, 2007 ). Caring for people affected by HD is challenging, complex and requires multidisciplinary as well as patient and family input. In the UK the initial focus on neurology brought about by the introduction of the National Service Framework for Long-term Conditions ( Department of Health (DH), 2005 ) has been renewed by concerns that the framework has not been adequately implemented. In addition, there remains insufficient data to assess the effectiveness of services or provide evidence of best practice for people with neurological conditions. However, current research in this area can provide insight into care provision.
