A Smart Colorimetric Platform for Detection of Methanol, Ethanol and Formic Acid

Abstract: Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and scientists are working on converting it to useful products, thereby reducing its quantity in the atmosphere. For converting CO2, different approaches are used, and among them, electrochemistry is found to be the most common and more efficient technique. Current methods for detecting the products of electrochemical CO2 conversion are time-consuming and complex. To combat this, a simple, cost-effective colorimetric method has been developed to detect… Show more

“…21 The solutions of potassium permanganate (KMnO 4 ) and eosin blue were also prepared in DI water at a concentration of 3 mM. The pH effect of the test analyte with eosin blue, KMnO 4 and silver nanowire dispersed starch iodine (SI) dyes was analyzed in acidic (2,4,6), neutral, and basic (9, 12) solutions. Each dye solution (10 mL) was added with 1 mL of 0.3 ppm H 2 O 2 solution in the adjusted pH.…”

“…To evaluate the applicability of the proposed sensor prototype, comparisons were made concerning heavy-duty instruments like the NMR spectrometer. 4 The solution employed in the NMR experiments of H 2 O 2 breakdown contains 75% (v/v) acetonitrile, and the rest is methanol. 3.1 mL of solvent, 5.0 mL of H 2 O 2 , and 10 mL of chloroform were combined in a 5 mL reaction vial, and 463 mL of this mixture was placed in a precision NMR tube.…”

“…Human exhaled breath can be a useful indicator for various issues in our respiratory system and can be used to detect various diseases and conditions. (Sha et al 2022a , b , c ; Sha et al 2022a , b ; Geetha et al 2022 ) The body's numerous cellular functions produce CO 2 as a metabolic byproduct, and it has some systems to control carbon dioxide levels. (Issitt et al 2022 ) One is an acid–base buffering mechanism that balances carbon dioxide and bicarbonate levels.…”
