A Single Lesion Demonstrating Features of Eccrine Poroma and Poroid Hidradenoma

Abstract: A case of a single poroma lesion with the features of eccrine poroma and poroid hidradenoma is reported. The patient was a 61-year-old woman with a soft nodule, light brown in color, located on the posterior aspect of the right knee and containing a pigmented papular lesion in its center. The histological features of the papular lesion and the nodule were consistent with those of eccrine poroma and poroid hidradenoma, respectively. The eccrine poroma portion consisted mostly of poroid cells. The number of cuti… Show more

“…On the histological examination the lesion described here proved to be adnexal tumor of the skin with features of both eccrine poroma and poroid hidradenoma. A similar lesion has been described by Misago and Kohda [14] and Kakinuma et al [15] featuring hidroacanthoma simplex, eccrine poroma, and dermal duct tumor features. The coexistence of these tumors is probably attributed to simultaneous tumorigenesis in different parts of the skin and the sweat glands that leads to different expressions of eccrine poroma [2].…”

“…Our case fulfilled morphological criteria for PH, as has been already described [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Its immunohistochemical profile suggested that it was closely related to a poroma [2,3,5,6] and that it kept with an eccrine derivation.…”

“…rarity of PPH, present case being the second one which has been reported. Poroid hidradenomas are seen mostly in the extremities, the head and neck, and vulva [1,2,6,7]. Its occurrence on the chest wall in our case suggested that there was no site of predilection for this rare tumour.…”

“…They are hidroacanthoma simplex, eccrine poroma, dermal duct tumor and poroid hidradenoma (PH)(5). Some authors have reported the association of two or three of these tumors in a single lesion (6,7). In this paper, a case of an overlapping eccrine duct tumor [ecrine poroma(EP)+ dermal duct tumor(DDT)+ eccrine hidradenoma(EH)] is reported.…”
