Abstract:This study describes the development of a underwater surveillance hydrophone based on next generation PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) single-crystal piezoelectric as the hydrophone substrate. Although PMN-PT can possess much higher piezoelectric sensitivity than traditional PZT piezoelectrics, it is highly anisotropic and therefore there is a large gain in sensitivity only when the crystal structure is oriented in a specific direction. Because of this, simply replacing the PZT substrate with a PMN-PT cylinder i… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
