A SIMSCAPE based design of a dual maximum power point tracker of a stand-alone photovoltaic system

Abstract: This paper presents the simulation of a dual maximum power point tracker (dual-MPPT) and attempt to get the global maximum power point GMPP under partial shading conditions for a solar photovoltaic module using MATLAB SIMSCAPE. Traditional single MPP trackers are less efficient than dual MPP trackers and have greater sensitivity to partial shading. By using dual MPP trackers, one can get several features such as the possibility of connecting two arrays with different string sizes or different solar azimuths or… Show more

“…Therefore, K must be designed to ensure that condition (34) is fulfilled. This is done by calculating the settling time of the PV voltage from (33), which is given in (35) for the classical band of 2%:…”

“…TheĆuk converter has been also used for DMPPT applications with several limitations. For example, the work reported in [34] demonstrates the advantages, in terms of power production, of a DMPPT system based onĆuk converters. However, such a work does not consider any control system to compensate the load perturbations, hence it is not evident that such a system will be stable under real operation condition.…”

“…MATLAB/simscape multibody provides a powerful quasi-physical simulation environment for multi-component mechanical systems such as robots, multibody systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The simscape-based approach has been exploited successfully in several studies, e.g., [27]- [29]. Simscape multibody gives blocks representing links, joints, sensors, and torque/force components that make the simscape-based model conformable to the actual robot.…”
