The integration of powerline communication (PLC) with visible light communication (VLC) has attracted the attention of many researchers. Cascading these two techniques offers the possibility of performing a wired transmission over existing powerline infrastructure and a last-mile energy-efficient wireless transmission through pre-installed LEDs for indoor illumination. Therefore, VLC should be deeply analyzed to optimize its integration with other systems. So far, most research has only modeled the channel and modulation bandwidth of the VLC system. However, the electrical and optical aspects are rarely taken into account and there is no explicit expression of the received signal as a function of that emitted. So in this paper, An explicit expression is proposed allowing a direct calculation of the photo-current as a function of the transmitted current taking into account the optical, electrical, and frequency behavior of the VLC system. This expression is validated using measurement results.Index Terms-VLC channel, LED frequency response, optical power, photo-current.

After more than two decades since intensive research began on power line communications (PLC) technology, this interesting field of telecommunication engineering is still progressing towards maturity. Despite some factors that delay its worldwide acceptance, its implementation is starting to take off. Research in PLC is motivated (i) by many factors such as the crowded radio frequency spectrum that requires to be sustained by alternative technologies and (ii) by the emanation of other new technologies that may help PLC to extend its practical implementation such as visible light communications or other wireless communication technologies like near‐field communications. PLC technology is used in applications requiring both low and high data rate but traditionally exploited in applications in which the node does not move. Nowadays, PLC has become widely accepted; hence, a review of the technology may be useful to keep the readers aware of new updates. In this paper, we provide an overview of the evolution of PLC technology over the last few decades.

The Powerline Communications (PLC) technology allows data transmission through electrical wires. Thus the electrical wiring will represent a data transmission channel conformable to the physical layer of the open system interconnection (OSI) model. In this work, the specifications of the Iraqi electrical network were used to model a high-voltage transmission line using a transmission (ABCD) matrix and use it as a communication channel for transmitting data within a narrow band . The transfer function of the suggested model was derived and its performance analysis was performed to evaluate the Line length effect, load impedance Z L and the source impedance Z S on the channel frequency response. This analysis was done with the help of Matlab16a simulator program. Index Terms-High voltage, Iraqi power network, transmission line model.According to the Iraqi power grid, a high voltage power line (132 kV) has been modeled as a communication channel for narrowband (28 -500 kHz) data transmission [8]. A signal from PLC travels from the transmitter, coupling devices over the power line to the receiver. A similar path is provided for the bidirectional path.
