A Simple v-Shaped Slot Antenna With Broadband Circular Polarization

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, a simple broadband circular polarization (CP) V-shaped slot antenna is developed. The CP antenna consists of Z-shaped feedline with a stub and a patch, and symmetrically etched two right-angled V-shaped slots (an open slot and a closed slot) along the center line. The stub is introduced for multi-resonances to obtain broadband. The broad CP and impedance bandwidths overlap by the symmetrically etched right-angled V-shaped closed slot along the center line and the Z-shaped feedline place… Show more

“…Major design strategies of antennas that have been investigated include an antenna having coplanar wave guide (CPW) fed quasi trapezoidal shaped radiating patch with two semicircular notches and two rectangular notches applied to the diagonal corners of the border ground [5], CPW fed square slot antenna with L-shape and crooked T-shape grounded strips square slot antenna [6], CPW fed square slot antenna with two corners connected by a strip line [7], antenna with a rectangular slot and horizontal stub [8], frequency selective surface backed wideband CP dual slot antenna [9], wideband CP perturbed psi shaped antenna [10], square slot antenna with antipodal Y strip [11], V shaped slot antenna [12], wideband slot antenna based on bent feed [13], slot antenna loaded by a multiple-circularsector patch [14] and a square slot antenna with dual-sense circularly polarized radiation [15]. The highest percentage ARBW coverage of the UWB spectrum obtained by the antennas under study is 64% [13].…”

“…Circularly polarized waves are powerful in satellite communications and global positioning systems, since circularly polarized waves will not be rotated like the linear polarized waves when they pass through ionosphere [1,2]. The injected power of slot antennas is transmitted to the radiation aperture through electromagnetic coupling, and the antennas have the advantages of low profile, simple structure, and wide bandwidth [3][4][5]. Slots with different shapes are etched on the conductive grounding plane of the slot antenna to excite required resonant modes and radiate power into free space.…”
