A Simple Processing Approach for Holographic Rascan Data

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a reconstruction approach which exploits the field detected by a holographic radar in order to localize and geometrically qualify a set of scattering objects. In particular, thanks to the adoption of the Kirchhoff Approximation, the problem is formulated as a linear inverse one wherein the unknown function is the characteristic function accounting for the support (location and geometry) of the target(s). The reconstruction performances of the approach are investigated through an ac… Show more

“…Different approaches have been introduced and proposed for both clutter and noise reduction such as background subtraction based method [2], clutter model approach [3,4], wavelet transform approach [5,6], and subspace projection based method [7][8][9][10][11][12]. Singular value decomposition (SVD) is a statistic based method of subspace projection which is considered by many researchers for building a robust GPR target signal enhancement as follows.…”

“…In this paper, this problem will be overcome by injecting the reference signal by means of an appropriate tilt of the antennas. This approach is common in subsurface radars [22,23] and, moreover, it has also shown good properties to synthesize the phase of the reference signal in conventional frequency-domain indirect holography by combining this injection with a convenient mechanical movement [24].…”

“…Recent works in microwave imaging, in particular for buried targets reconstructions, are concerned with the development of fast linear algorithms allowing the detection and the localization of the scatterers [see, e.g., Soldovieri , 2010; Litman et al , 2010; Soldovieri et al , 2011]. These methods which present a low computational time and a relatively low memory requirement allow exploring large spatial regions.…”
