A simple method for simultaneous determination of nine triazines in drinking water

Abstract: A simple, effective, and economic method for determination of nine triazines (ametryn, atrazine, cyanazine, prometryn, propazine, simazine, simetryn, terbuthylazine, and terbutryn) in drinking water based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) was developed. A specialized solid phase (Oasis HLB) was used, and the parameters that may affect the efficiency of SPE were optimized. The limits of detection (ranged from 0.010 to 0.023 µg L −… Show more

“…The detection limit is 0.34 pM (S/N = 3), and the increase of the response signal by ATZ is 6.73 μA μcm –2 ·nM –1 , which is significantly higher than other homogeneous PEC sensing works (Table S3), showing high sensitivity of the proposed label-free and homogeneous PEC sensor. In addition, the detection limit of the sensor was far lower than some international standard of ATZ (European Union, 0.1 μg/L; United States Environmental Protection Agency, 3 μg/L; China’s Ministry of Health, 3 μg/L ). Meanwhile, the comparisons of ATZ determination performance by various methods also demonstrate the superior comprehensive performance of the constructed sensor (Table S2).…”

“…The solid-phase extraction procedure was based on a previous method for drinking water developed by the same authors [28]. To optimize the method for surface waters, a filtration step prior to the SPE was studied.…”

“…High‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is still the most commonly used technique for analyzing herbicides. Analytical HPLC methods with various detectors such as diode array detection (DAD), ultraviolet detection (UV), and mass spectrometry (MS) detection have been reported for the determination of atrazine. To quantify triazine by these methods, some authors have proposed several different approaches for preconcentration, extraction, and cleaning up.…”
