A Silver(I) Coordination Polymer Based on a Schiff Base Ligand: Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Luminescence Properties

Abstract: A new Ag(I) coordination polymer [AgL(NO 3 )] n 1 (L = 4-(pyridine-2-yl)methyleneamino-1,2,4-trizaole) has been synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Ag(I) atom has a seesaw environment with an N 3 O donor set from three N atoms of two ligands and one O atom of one NO − 3 anion. Each twisted tridentate ligand is bound to two silver centers, and each silver atom is coordinated by two ligands thereby generating a zigzag chain struct… Show more

“…Such SMMs have high luminescence and ferroelectric capabilities in some situations, paving the way for a new class of multifunctional materials that could be used in quantum computers, memory devices and multiferroics [29][30][31][32][33][34][35] . Coordination polymers of silver(I) and cadmium(II) with the polydentate N-donor ligand 4-(pyridin-2-yl)methyleneamino-1,2,4-triazole (L) were studied previously [36][37][38] . Moreover, lanthanide(III) (Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy) complexes derived from 4-(pyridin-2yl)methyleneamino-1,2,4-triazole were also prepared [39] .…”
