A Signal Decomposition Method for Ultrasonic Guided Wave Generated from Debonding Combining Smoothed Pseudo Wigner-Ville Distribution and Vold–Kalman Filter Order Tracking

Abstract: Carbon fibre composites have a promising application future of the vehicle, due to its excellent physical properties. Debonding is a major defect of the material. Analyses of wave packets are critical for identification of the defect on ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation and testing. In order to isolate different components of ultrasonic guided waves (GWs), a signal decomposition algorithm combining Smoothed Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution and Vold-Kalman filter order tracking is presented. In the algorithm… Show more

“…In the process of select an optimal wavelet scale as shown in Figure 2, the time-frequency power spectrum density of the wavelet scale component is obtained by smoothed pseudo Winger-Ville distribution (SPWVD) 45 and the threshold 0.9 for the ratio P N / P N −1 is chosen based on the experiment results. The whole step (2) is noted as PRE + ROF + EL.…”

“…The process of time-frequency entropy extraction is presented as follows. The smoothed pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution algorithm is adopted to obtain the energy distribution SPWVD n; m ð Þ of the signal m F B n ð Þ in time-frequency domain, as shown in Formula 4 [19]. The Shannon entropy F TFH of the SPWVD n; m ð Þ is calculated by Formulas 5-6 [20].…”
